CAPSTONE Launches Maiden Implementation Science Programme at KNUST
In partnership with the KNUST Africa Health Collaborative (AHC-KNUST), CAPSTONE successfully launched the maiden Implementation Science Programme at KNUST.
Held from Monday, the 1st of December to Friday, the 5th of December 2025, the 5-day programme brought together 27 postgraduate participants from across Ghana to strengthen one of the most urgent needs in global health today—bridging the gap between research and real-world practice.
Speaking at the opening session, Prof. Kofi Akohene Mensah (on behalf of the Dean, School of Public Health) described the programme as “a strategic investment in building scientists, policymakers, and practitioners capable of closing the persistent gap between evidence and practice.”
Faculty from KNUST, the University Medical Centre Utrecht, The Netherlands, Kintampo Health Research Centre, Ghana, and the University Health and Allied Sciences, Ho in Ghana, equipped participants with essential skills to advance evidence-based decisions in the growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
Prof. Ellis Owusu-Dabo (PI, Africa Health Collaborative) emphasized that the initiative goes beyond credentials—highlighting that it empowers participants to translate knowledge into action within their communities and institutions.
Representing CAPSTONE, Professor Arti Singh stressed the vital role of implementation science in ensuring that research findings evolve into scalable, sustainable, and context-appropriate health solutions across Africa.
