CAPSTONE holds the final stakeholders’ meeting for 2025 to discuss piloting of NCD short courses
Stakeholders of the CAPSTONE Project convened on 18th December 2025 at the West Africa Centre for GeoHealth Conference Room, School of Public Health, University of Ghana, to review and evaluate the first set of Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) short courses piloted at UG, KNUST, and UHAS.
It was particularly encouraging to hear both facilitators and students share their experiences and openly reflect on the challenges encountered during course delivery and participation. Overall, participants highlighted the significant impact of the short courses, noting that engagement with challenge-based learning meaningfully transformed their perspectives on addressing real-world NCD challenges.
The rich insights and lessons gathered from this engagement will directly inform the refinement of teaching and learning approaches for future course pilots planned for next year.
The meeting was attended by Mrs. Elizabeth Awini, Deputy Director for Research and Development, Ghana Health Service; Prof. Florence Naab, Dean, School of Nursing and Midwifery; Dr. Mary Amoako Coleman, Senior Research Fellow, Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research; Prof. Philip T. Tabong, Associate Professor, University of Ghana School of Public Health; Dr. Susana Somuah, Director of Academics, Ghana College of Nurses and Midwifery; CAPSTONE team members; and students who participated in the NCD short course pilot.
