A CAPSTONE Stakeholders Meeting was convened in the Gambia, on 24th April 2025, to present the draft curriculum for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) short courses focused on non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and to gather feedback from key stakeholders on the relevance and suitability of the curriculum for the Gambian healthcare context.
During the CAPSTONE stakeholders meeting, participants expressed a strong interest in understanding the structure, flexibility, and inclusivity of the proposed NCD short courses.
The stakeholders sought clarification on assessment and evaluation of the course, course structure and flexibility, duration and accessibility, inclusivity of entry criteria and the breadth of NCD topics.
During the CAPSTONE stakeholders meeting, participants reached important agreements regarding the structure, delivery, and piloting of the NCD short courses. On the eligibility Criteria, stakeholders agreed that the courses will be open to health workers and allied health workers holding a minimum of a diploma qualification. They further agreed that each course will run for five consecutive days to allow for intensive but manageable learning and will be delivered in a hybrid format, with most sessions conducted face-to-face, supplemented by online components as necessary. On the prioritization of courses to be piloted, the stakeholders selected the courses in the following order: NCD Epidemiology, NCD Prevention and Management, NCD Surveillance and Monitoring, NCD Digital Health and NCD Health Financing.
