On Wednesday the 2nd of April, 2025 we held our third stakeholders meeting to discuss the the discussion of a curriculum for NCD capacity building in Africa and solicit input from stakeholders. The meeting also served as a platform to introduce stakeholders to a proposed learning mechanism/ strategy for deliving NCD training – the Challenge Based Learning approach, and to inform them about the community of practice for NCDs.
In attendance were stakeholders from the Ministry of Health, Ghana Health Service, CSOs, Academic and Research Institutions, Pharmacy Council and the Federation of Ghana Medical Students Association.
Key issues raised during the discussions involved looking at the credits hours for the proposed MPH programme to meet the requirements of the accreditation body, introduce courses that look at important risk factors like nutrition, and consider the inclusion of curses that focus on digital health and AI tools for NCD management.
Other recommendations from stakeholders included including people with lived experiences as teachers and to consider people with NCD practical skills in short courses even they don’t have forma certificates to apply for the course.
