Thomas Senghore

BIO

Dr. Thomas Senghore is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Nursing and Reproductive Health and an Adjunct Lecturer at the Department of Public and Environmental Health all at the University of the Gambia (UTG). He received an MSc and Ph.D. in Public Health (Epidemiology) and an MSc in Bioethics. He has successfully served as Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-PI in numerous studies. He is an investigator in the ongoing European Union-funded Capacity Strengthening of Transdisciplinary Education for nON-communicable disease care in West Africa (CAPSTONE) as well as Strengthening Capacity in Health Research Ethics and Methodology in the Gambia, a project funded by the Fogarty International Center of the National Institute of Health. His past research focused on genetic and oral cancer epidemiology, child and adolescent nutrition, and intimate partner violence. Currently, his research focuses on non-communicable disease epidemiology and bioethics. Dr. Senghore serves as a member of the scientific committee at the School of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (Republic), a member of the UTG Ethics Committees and the Educational sub-committee of the Pharmacy Council, The Gambia. He is also an ad-hoc peer reviewer for several international journals.
